Great hiking experience in Croatia

Croatia isn’t a country that pops in to your mind when you’re planning a trip, at least it didn’t with me. My friend went there a couple of times and said to me it was great country with beautiful nature and lovely weather.

So I decided to go! And I can tell you it was amazing. One day I went to Omis, a little town next to Split. I’ve heard of a fortress on a mountain you can visit. It is about 300 meters up. When I got there I was all exited and thought to myself that it wouldn’t be so hard. Unfortunately, I underestimated it. The walk up was very, very hard. Believe me it was very steep. It was about 32 degrees Celsius that day and I was sweating in places I didn’t know could sweat. At one point I almost gave up, but I kept going! After about a 45-minutes hike I finally reached the top, yay! The view was more than worth it!

At the fortress works a hostess that receives people every day. I was wondering how she gets up there every day so I started a conversation. I thought maybe there is an elevator or something, but there isn’t. She walks it every day! I was amazed because I had such a hard time getting up there. We had a lovely conversation about the tourism in Croatia and that she loves that there are more people visiting Croatia every year. I was glad I pushed through and I got to meet her and see the beautiful view!

Sometime you got to do things that are not always easy and push through. When you have the feeling of giving up, take a deep breath, dust yourself off and go for it. Even writing this story was a struggle for me, writing doesn’t come easy to me but when I’m done I feel great and love it!
